Star forward Jaylen Brown seemed to hint at drama behind the scenes of his departure from the Boston Celtics during his introductory press conference with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Brown touched on a variety of topics during his first media availability as a member of the Sixers, and his exit from Boston was inevitably addressed.

When asked to expound on comments he made recently regarding feeling disrespected by Boston as an organization, Brown declined, but seemed to imply that there was more to the story than had been made public.
“To be honest, I’m moving on,” Brown said. “Maybe one day you share the details of how everything transpired and all the moving parts that took place in this. Obviously it’s a lot of speculation. I feel no need to chime in on it because I’m focused on what’s in front of me.
. . . “It’s been a crazy transition to be honest, but none of it is completely surprising,” he added. “Even though some of these things were said externally, internally and through organization and stuff like that, there’s been conversations.”
After giving his all to the Celtics for a decade, Brown understandably felt upset and angry when the team decided to trade him to a direct rival. “When I first got traded, I just threw my phone across the room,” Brown said.
Now though, Brown will have an opportunity to exact revenge on the organization that gave up on him. You can bet that Philadelphia’s games against Boston next season will be circled on his calendar.

Brown also addressed his relationship with Celtics star Jayson Tatum during his introductory presser with the Sixers. When asked if he had talked to Tatum since the trade, Brown said “not really,” but went on to show respect for his former teammate.
“We won a championship together. So anybody that you won a championship, you would think that’s what a brotherhood or a lifelong legacy would entail,” Brown said of Tatum.
“Obviously there’s ups and downs in any type of relationship for sure. But on my end, it’s nothing but respect. Besides when he plays the Sixers, I hope he does well. But other than that, everything for me is just based in respect.”
Teammates don’t have to be the best of friends off of the floor in order to enjoy some serious success on the court together, and it certainly seems like that was the case in Boston with Brown and Tatum.
