The Green Bay Packers got back in the win column on Thursday night, as they picked up a 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers. It wasn’t necessarily the Packers’ cleanest outing of the season, but when they weren’t turning the football over, they were in full control of this game against the Panthers.

One of the more notable storylines from this game was Christian Watson’s injury status, as he was taken to the hospital as a precaution after he suffered a chest injury in the first half. He ended up returning from the hospital and getting himself back on the field later in the game, which unsurprisingly drew a big reaction from Jordan Love after the game.

Jordan Love Gets Real on Christian Watson’s ‘Crazy’ Injury Return

Watson has teamed up with Matthew Golden to form one of the most effective wide receiver duos in the NFL this season, and while both guys are putting up big numbers, it’s clear that Watson is Love’s favorite target in the air right now. In just eight games, Watson has already set career highs in receptions (42) and receiving yards (708) while also hauling in six touchdowns.

Against the Panthers, Watson was on fire early, as he hauled in six catches for 100 yards in the first half. His last catch, a 53-yard bomb deep down the field, saw Watson suffer a chest injury that ended up forcing him out of the game. After he was coughing up blood, Green Bay sent Watson to the hospital in an ambulance as a precautionary measure.

In a surprise twist, though, Watson was never ruled out of the game, so when he was cleared to return to action, he hopped back in the ambulance and returned to Lambeau Field. He didn’t make as big of an impact once he returned, catching a pair of passes for 13 yards, but Love made it clear after the game that he was impressed with Watson’s commitment to the team.

“That was crazy,” Love said of Watson’s injury return when speaking to reporters. “There was a lot of people cheering, and stuff was going on. I didn’t know what was happening, and then I see Christian running out and he was just resurrected. It was great to see him.”

In a lot of ways, this game was a perfect representation of the Packers’ 2026 campaign. They haven’t always played their best football, but for the most part, this team has managed to get the job done. With a handful of key players (namely, Micah Parsons) close to returning from injury, Green Bay could be rounding into form as the second half of the season gets underway.

After earning a nice win, the Packers will enjoy a mini bye week now before turning the page to Week 9, where a big matchup against the New England Patriots awaits. If New England wins in Week 8, both of these teams will have 5-3 records heading into this one, so this could wind up being a critical matchup for both sides as they attempt to begin their respective playoff pushes. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Nov. 8.
