The Houston Texans have added Jha'Quan Jackson in their lasted set of roster moves.

The Houston Texans have made a pair of roster additions on the eve of the start of their first session of Organized Team Activities (OTAs), agreeing to deals with wide receiver Jha’Quan Jackson and linebacker K.C. Ossai.

Houston is familiar with both players, which could make for smoother integration into the Texans’ offense for Jackson and defense for Ossai.

Both players could have fairly decent chances of making the final 53-man roster.

KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported on the moves ahead of the Texans’ official announcement about signing Jackson and Ossai. Jackson’s contract with the Texans was the first one announced in the shuffle.

“#Texans sign wide receiver Jha’Quan Jackson, per a league source,” Wilson reported in a post on X on May 26.

Wilson noted that Jackson’s deal came after a “successful workout” with the Texans that included several other options at the position. The 5-foot-9 Jackson was a sixth-round pick, taken 182nd overall in the 2024 draft by the Tennessee Titans.

Jackson has one reception for 8 yards in his career, seeing more playing time on special teams as a returner.

Ossai’s deal came later, with the 6-foot-2, 241-pound tweener rejoining the Texans.

“Back with #Texans, per league source after agreeing to terms Saturday, linebacker K.C. Ossai is a Conroe native and the younger brother of [New York Jets EDGE]  Joseph Ossai. Last year, he signed a three-year deal that includes a $15,000 signing bonus, plus $160,000 of his base salary fully guaranteed for $175,000 total guaranteed after going undrafted out of Louisiana,” Wilson said in a follow-up post on X on May 26.

“Ossai … is an Oak Ridge graduate who was named All-Sun Belt Conference. As a junior, he had 95 tackles, 4 1/2 for losses and one sack with two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. In high school, he had 93 tackles, 10 for losses, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He chose Louisiana over Arizona, Army, Air Force, UTSA and Nevada.”

Ossai has yet to see the field during a regular-season game in the NFL. However, he signed with the Miami Dolphins last season after the Texans cut him.

Texans Navigating Injuries, Player Recovery in OTAs

Tank Dell, Houston Texans

GettyThe Houston Texans are hoping to get Tank Dell back at full speed this season.

The timing of the Texans’ decision to bring in Jackson and bring Ossai back stands out. Wide receiver Tank Dell is still recovering from the devastating leg injury that wiped out his 2025 season, and Jackson fits a similar physical profile in addition to his potential return duties.

Ossia returns amid the Texans losing starting strongside backer E.J. Speed to a partially torn quad muscle that he injured while lifting weights during the offseason program.

The Texans had options at both positions on the roster.

However, moving someone up the depth chart means needing to fill whatever role they previously held with, hopefully, quality depth. There figure to be several more adjustments to the Texans’ roster between now and the start of training camp, let alone the regular season.

They are allowed to roster 90 players during this period, but they must trim down to the 53-player limit by Week 1.
