One of their roster decisions was to option Vidal Bruján.

Bruján is coming off a year where he batted .253 in 60 games for the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles.

Max Goodman of NJ.com wrote (on Wednesday): “NEWS: The Mets have designated infielder Vidal Brujan, left-hander Bryan Hudson and catcher Ben Rortvedt for assignment”

Here’s what people on social media were saying about the decision:

@grumpy86usa: “Bruján didn’t make the team? Who is going to back up SS? I guess Bichette.”

@TonyMetroMLB: “I’m really surprised Vidal Brujan didn’t make the team after the Mike Tauchman injury.”

@pladinosaur:Jared Young and Lovelady over Brujan and Hudson? Preposterous”

The Mets have a very talented roster with a lot of notable players.

That said, they are coming off a year where they missed the MLB playoffs after losing their last game of the 2025 regular season to the Miami Marlins.

Following the Pirates, the Mets will head on the road for a series with the Cardinals on March 30 in St. Louis.
