Former player-turned-pundit Jordan Wilson revealed what Promise David could bring to Brighton & Hove Albion. Canadian supporters have raved about David for years, particularly after his strong stint with Union Saint-Gilloise. Wilson believes David fits the Premier League side well and could thrive there.

Brighton & Hove Albion signed David on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The Seagulls finished 8th in the Premier League standings last season and will hope the Canadian striker could push them up the table.

David, 25, has not had an easy path to the professional level by any means. After his exit from Toronto FC Academy, he found a home with Vaughan Soccer Club. There, the Brampton, Ontario native continued to develop before taking a chance on himself and moving to Europe.

David’s non-traditional route led him to the third division in Croatia, and later Malta and Estonia before signing with Union SG. He most recently represented Canada at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored his first World Cup goal against Switzerland.

Jordan Wilson Reveals What Promise David Could Bring to Brighton

Jordan Wilson expressed excitement about Promise David’s big move to the Premier League. Wilson said that David’s physicality will make for a smooth transition and that he will provide scoring depth.

“Is Brighton a good fit [for David]? Abso-freakin’-lutely. Absolutely. They’re direct, they wanna numbers into the box, and they don’t have a profile like Promise David. 6’5,” strong, always finds a way to find the goal. Brighton need a nine,” Wilson told OneSoccer. The thing I like about Promise David is that it doesn’t really matter who he’s going up against, right? There’s not really fear with this guy. He’s just focused on what he’s going to do. It’s very difficult in the Premier League to go and just [score] double digit [goals] right away.”

He continued:

“But if [David] can get to a nice little eight goals, if he can get important goals as well, put in full performances, that bodes well. Biggest priority is keeping him healthy. If he’s healthy, he will convert. He will score. I have full confidence in Promise and his abilities.”

“This guy is built for [the Premier League], incredible physical presence and will bully the CBs on every set piece guaranteed. Even though I am a Man Utd fan, I will probably be following Brighton a lot this season,” wrote another fan on X.

“His story is so inspiring. Never gave up on his dream. Congratulations, Promise [Canadian flag emoji],” another fan wrote on X.

“As a fan from across the pond, this got me super pumped,” a fan wrote on X.
