Carlos Correa: Breaking News

Correa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Though Correa returned from a recent two-game absence due to an illness and proceeded to go 4-for-9 with a double and three runs while starting in the Astros' first two games in Seattle, manager Joe Espada indicated that the veteran infielder isn't yet 100 percent recovered from the ailment, per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle. Correa will receive Sunday off as a result, though the expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup for Monday's series finale.

Correa (illness) will start at third base and bat sixth against the Mariners on Friday. Correa missed the Astros' last two games while recovering from an illness. The 31-year-old had been trending upward prior to getting sick, going 7-for-26 (.269) with seven RBI and eight runs scored in his last seven games.

Correa is absent from the lineup for a second straight day Wednesday in Colorado due to an illness, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Correa wasn't at the ballpark at all Tuesday, but he was present Wednesday and went through a light workout. He could be available off the bench for the series finale, but Correa will aim to return to the Astros' starting lineup Friday in Seattle after his team is idle Thursday. Isaac Paredes will handle third base duties again Wednesday.
