Corey Seager: Breaking News

Seager went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Yankees. The 32-year-old shortstop ended a 10-game dry spell without a homer Wednesday. Seager isn't hitting for much average in the early going, but he's getting on base at a healthy clip while supplying a decent amount of power. Through 153 plate appearances, he's slashing .214/.314/.420 with seven long balls, six doubles, 19 RBI and 19 walks.

Seager went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 6-1 victory versus the Pirates on Thursday. Seager broke the game open in the fourth inning, belting a three-run shot to right field to give the Rangers a 6-0 lead. The veteran shortstop had been in the midst of a mini-slump coming into the contest, going just 1-for-15 at the plate with six strikeouts over his previous four games. Seager hasn't been hitting to his usual standard this season, slashing just .207/.317/.448 through 104 plate appearances, but he does have six homers, 16 RBI and 17 runs along with one stolen base.

Seager is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics. Seager will receive his first day off of the season after he started each of the Rangers' first 18 contests. Ezequiel Duran will fill in at shortstop for Seager, who is batting just .152 through 13 games in April but has contributed three home runs, eight RBI, seven runs and one stolen base.
