Perez (2-6) took the loss against the Rays on Sunday, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts over five innings. The same command issues that have plagued Perez for much of the season were his undoing Sunday, as he allowed two homers and walked four batters while throwing 63 of 102 pitches for strikes. During his current five-start losing streak, the 23-year-old has posted a 6.55 ERA while surrendering six long balls and issuing 16 free passes. He'll take a disappointing 5.33 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 58:28 K:BB across 52.1 innings this season into a home start against the Mets next weekend.

Eury Pérez: Breaking News
Nabs quality start but takes loss
Perez (2-5) took the loss against Minnesota on Tuesday, allowing three hits and issuing three walks while striking out eight batters over six innings. Perez did well outside of the fifth inning, when he gave up three runs on a walk and two hits (including a Ryan Jeffers homer). However, that was more than enough for Minnesota to pull out the win in a game during which Twins starter Bailey Ober recorded his first career shutout. On a positive note for Perez, he posted his third quality start of the campaign and tied a season high with eight punchouts while showing improvement over the five-run, five-inning dud he labored through his last time out. Perez is in line to make his next start at Tampa Bay this weekend.
Control issues surface again
Perez (2-4) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Orioles after allowing five runs on four hits and five walks across five innings. He struck out six. Perez has been charged with the loss in each of his last three outings, failing to complete at least six frames each time and allowing at least four earned runs twice. The control issues plagued him in this loss to Baltimore, as he was coming off five straight appearances in which he had given up two or fewer walks. On a more positive note, however, this was his fourth consecutive outing with six or more strikeouts. Perez will carry a 5.01 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 45:21 K:BB across 41.1 innings this season into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled against the Twins on the road next week.
