The Rays recalled Bigge from Triple-A Durham on Friday. He's grabbing the roster spot vacated by the injured Garrett Cleavinger (calf). Bigge narrowly missed out on an Opening Day roster spot despite a strong spring training, but he didn't have to wait long for his first promotion. The righty could work his way into high-leverage situations as part of an unsettled Rays bullpen.

Hunter Bigge: Breaking News
Sent to Triple-A
The Rays optioned Bigge to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The right-hander allowed just one run with a 10:3 K:BB across 6.1 innings during spring training, but he won't crack Tampa Bay's Opening Day roster. Bigge had a 2.40 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB over 15 big-league innings last year, and it should only be a matter of time before the Rays give him a look in 2026.
Healthy ahead of spring training
Bigge (face) threw live batting practice Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. After pitching eight games in the Dominican Winter League, Bigge appears to be just about all the way back from the multiple facial fractures he suffered when he was hit by a foul ball in June of last year. The 27-year-old right-hander said Sunday that he's fully cleared medically, and the expectation is that Bigge will be competing for a spot in Tampa Bay's Opening Day bullpen during upcoming Grapefruit League play.
