Justin Foscue: Breaking News

Makes first start

Foscue started at second base and went 0-for-1 in Thursday's 9-2 loss to the Yankees. Foscue made his first start since being called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, but it wasn't a long day. After striking out in his first plate appearance, Foscue was pulled for a pinch hitter in the fifth. He's been a tease in the minors, putting up noteworthy numbers at the Triple-A level, but the production never followed him into the majors, where he's 3-for-52 across multiple stints. He could get some playing time while Josh Smith (glute) is on the 10-day injured list, but Ezequiel Duran is expected to get the bulk of the starts at the keystone while Smith his sidelined.

Elevated to big-league roster

The Rangers recalled Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday. Foscue has gotten off to a great start at Round Rock this season, slashing .287/.407/.426 with a pair of home runs and a 22:22 BB:K over 30 contests. The 27-year-old is just 3-for-51 at the plate during his limited big-league opportunities, but he could see a bit of action at second base while Josh Smith (glute) is sidelined.

Optioned to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Foscue to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Foscue missed three weeks of action in spring training due to a strained right hamstring but progressed enough in his recovery to return to the lineup for Sunday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers, when he went 0-for-2 with one walk. He spent the vast majority of the 2025 season in Triple-A, where he slashed .261/.341/.474 with seven steals, 19 home runs and 68 RBI over 453 plate appearances. Foscue appeared in only four regular-season games for the Rangers last year, but he would be in line for a major-league call-up should Texas require more depth in the infield.
