Kumar Rocker: Breaking News

Rocker didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Royals, allowing three hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out two. The right-hander blanked Kansas City over 85 pitches (52 strikes) and left the mound with Texas up 3-0, but Rocker's third win of the season slipped away as things got wild in the final frames. He settled for his fourth quality start of 2026, and he'll take a 3.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 44:25 K:BB through 56 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home next weekend against the Guardians.

Rocker (2-5) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on four hits, two walks and a hit batsman over five innings against the Astros. He struck out five. After working behind an opener and turning in 7.2 shutout innings his last time out, Rocker started Monday's contest and was considerably less effective. The right-hander allowed a run in the first inning, worked through a pair of scoreless frames, then surrendered three more runs between the fourth and fifth innings, highlighted by a Yordan Alvarez solo shot. Rocker will carry a 3.96 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 42:22 K:BB across 50 innings (10 appearances) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Royals.

Rocker (2-4) earned the win over Colorado on Tuesday, allowing three hits and issuing three walks while striking out seven batters over 7.2 scoreless relief innings. Rocker has struggled in first innings this season, so the Rangers elected to pitch him behind opener Tyler Alexander on Tuesday. That proved to be a fruitful decision, as Rocker ended up tossing his longest outing of the campaign while keeping the Rockies off the scoreboard. The right-hander racked up an impressive 19 whiffs en route to a season-high seven punchouts. Rocker was hit hard in his first two starts of May, but he's responded well, tossing 12.2 scoreless frames over his subsequent two outings. Given how well he pitched Tuesday, it wouldn't be surprising if the Rangers decide to pitch Rocker behind an opener again the next time he takes the mound.
