Pablo Reyes: Everything you need to know

The Padres reassigned Reyes to minor-league camp Saturday. After failing to secure a spot on the Padres' Opening Day roster, Reyes is likely to begin the season as a utility player at Triple-A El Paso. The 32-year-old previously saw action in 19 games at the big-league level with the Yankees in 2025, slashing .194/.242/.226 over 34 plate appearances before being outrighted off the 40-man roster in June.

The Padres signed Reyes to a minor-league contract Nov. 6. Reyes had a .468 OPS in 24 games with the Yankees in 2025 but spent most of the season at Triple-A Syracuse in the Mets organization. The 32-year-old is a career .245/.305/.342 hitter across parts of seven major-league seasons and will provide the Padres with some utility depth at Triple-A El Paso.

The Mets released Reyes on Friday. Reyes spent time in the majors with the Yankees earlier in the season, but he never saw big-league action with the Mets after joining the organization in late June on a minor-league deal. Over 44 games with Triple-A Syracuse, Reyes slashed .289/.385/.484 with six home runs and four stolen bases before getting cut loose.
