Shane McClanahan: Breaking News

Sharp over five shutout innings

McClanahan didn't factor into decision Tuesday against the Blue Jays, allowing one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts across five shutout innings. McClanahan exited with a 4-0 lead, but the Tampa Bay bullpen imploded in the seventh inning, allowing five runs on four hits, one walk and an error. McClanahan hasn't allowed a run in any of his last four starts and has blanked the Blue Jays across 10.2 innings in back-to-back outings. The left-hander's off-speed and breaking stuff has been well above-average this season, and he now owns a 2.27 ERA and 41:15 K:BB across 39.2 innings. McClanahan is lined up to face the Orioles at home next week.

Blanks Jays for fourth win

McClanahan (4-2) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering two hits and a walk over 5.2 scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Blue Jays. He struck out four. The southpaw extended his scoreless streak to 16.2 innings in a surprisingly short outing that saw McClanahan get the hook after just 69 pitches (47 strikes), one out shy of his second quality start of 2026. Both hits off McClanahan were doubles, but in neither case did the Toronto runner even advance to third base. He'll take a 2.60 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB through 34.2 innings into his next start, which is set to come on the road early next week in a rematch with the Jays.

Shuts out Giants over six innings

McClanahan (3-2) earned the win Friday against the Giants, scattering five hits and no walks with five strikeouts across six scoreless innings. McClanahan has now blanked the Twins and Giants over 11 total innings in back-to-back starts after he was hammered for four runs on eight hits versus Detroit on April 19. The left-hander has his strikeout stuff working again this season and generated 14 whiffs on 73 pitches Friday night. His fastball velocity sat at 95.3 mph, and McClanahan has lowered his ERA to 3.10 with his latest scoreless outing. His 2.86 FIP suggests McClanahan's stellar results have been legit, and he also owns a 1.17 WHIP and 30:13 K:BB across 29 innings. McClanahan is lined up to take the ball at home against the Blue Jays next week.
