Martin Kampmann
Hitman and Doomsday hook it up in June
A welterweight bout between John “Doomsday” Howard and Martin Kampmann is tentatively scheduled for June’s UFC on Versus 4 event.
UFC president Dana White announced the matchup via UFC.com today. White also said that both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.
UFC on Versus 4 is scheduled for June 26 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
Kampmann last appeared in a controversial unanimous-decision loss to Diego Sanchez in the main event of UFC on Versus 3. Kampmann was angling for a rematch with Sanchez, but has apparently drawn Howard instead. Kampmann lost to Jake Shields in October.
Both fighters are on a two-fight losing streak. Howard suffered back to back losses to Jake Ellenberger and Thiago Alves and will look to right the ship against Kampmann.
