WWE WrestleMania 34: The Results & Highlights You Need to Know

John Cena vs. The Undertaker

Winner: The Undertaker!

Highlights: Earlier in the evening, a ref ran out to alert Cena to the fact that ‘Taker is in the arena. Later on during the show, Cena made his way down to the ring ready for a fight. However, another ref ran out to let Cena know that plans had unfortunately changed. This led to Elias coming out to musically mock Cena. Cena went back into the audience to watch the rest of the show at first, but Elias’ constant verbal poking forced Cena to run in and destroy him.

Afterwards, Cena made his way back up the ramp with a look of disappointment on his face. Suddenly, “The Deadman’s” music hit! He finally made his way out for an impromptu match against Cena. At first, ‘Taker pulled out all his best moves (even Old School!) to begin weakening a still in shock Cena. Cena eventually revived himself and used his signature comeback offense to get ‘Taker down. During Cena’s 5-Knuckle Shuffle attempt, ‘Taker popped back up and scared Cena silly! This caused him to walk right into a Chokeslam and a match ending Tombstone Piledriver.

Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey vs. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon (Mixed Tag Team Match)

Wrestlemania 34

WWE

Winners: Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey!

Highlights: HHH and Stephanie rode to the ring on their own personal motorcycles. Stephanie even stood on the ring apron to spit out water alongside her husband. Angle came out adorned in new Olympic gear, then Ronda hit the ring with her “Rowdy” Roddy Piper inspired gear. Both teams got into each other’s faces to start things off. Steph snuck in a quick slap and even grabbed the back of Ronda’s head to bring her down to start the match off. She ran off however and let HHH lock up with Angle. Angle dominated HHH during their initial exchange. The crowd roared “YOU STILL GOT IT!” as he took hold of HHH’s arm and worked it over. In a brief moment of distraction, Steph looked to enter the ring. This caused the ref to jump in to stop Ronda from getting in, which led to HHH throwing Angle over the top rope thanks to an assist from Steph.

Steph continued aiding her husband afterwards and causing Ronda to run at her, but the ref kept stopping her from landing any illegal offense. Angle began getting broken down as HHH beat him down and caught him with a vintage Spinebuster. Angle finally saved himself after using a boot to cut off a stampeding HHH. HHH woke back up and almost landed a nasty punch on Steph, but HHH stopped himself just in time to keep that from happening. Angle then landed a German Suplex on HHH and began crawling towards Ronda. When it looked like he’d actually tag Ronda in, Steph tripped Ronda and caused her to fall off the ring apron. Later on, Angle finally tagged in Ronda.

Ronda ran in like a house of fire and beat the holy hell out of Steph. Ronda used a number of brutal suplexes and nasty punches to torture her boss. As Steph sat in the corner in fear, Ronda got ahold of her and almost locked in an armbar. To break the hold, Steph dug her nails into Ronda’s eyes. Then Steph responded with a kick to her back and a snap DDT. Steph then locked her into a submission and even taunted her. This did nothing but further anger Ronda, who used a unique spinning Samoan Slam to take Steph down. Ronda pinned Steph to get the 1-2-3, but HHH woke up just in time to yank the ref out the ring. Then he did the same to Ronda, which forced Angle to jump on the offensive. Angle tried landing a German Suplex through the announce table, but HHH countered him by throwing him onto another one.

HHH then re-entered the ring and started squaring off Ronda. Ronda then popped the crowd as she started striking HHH in the corner with repeated punches. She almost dropped HHH with her signature suplex, but Steph prevented it from happening. On the outside, Steph finally laid Ronda out by throwing her face first into the corner post. Back in the ring, Angle began landing his sequence of comeback maneuvers on HHH. HHH fought back valiantly and almost finished Angle with a Pedigree, but Angle beat him back down to the mat with an Angle Slam. Angle then locked HHH into an Ankle Lock, which remained on until Stephanie ran into break it. Angle then locked the hold onto Steph for only a few seconds until HHH broke it up. He repaid Angle for the earlier Angle Slam he took with a Pedigree. He tried doing the same to Ronda, but Ronda flipped out of it and almost tapped HHH out with an armbar.

Stephanie ran in to save her husband, but her last ditch effort caused her to get locked into an armbar from Ronda. Angle then ran in and locked his Ankle Lock on HHH. While locked in the hold, HHH tried his hardest to break the hold and get his wife out of danger all at the same time. He managed to make the save by flinging Angle right into Ronda. Moments later, HHH took Angle down with a Pedigree but it wasn’t enough to finish him. HHH went for another one while Stephanie tried doing the same to Ronda. However, Angle flipped HHH over his back to the outside and left Ronda to take care of Stephanie. Ronda then put on a final armbar onto Stephanie and made her tap out as soon as the hold got fully locked in.

Brock Lesnar (c) (with Paul Heyman) vs. Roman Reigns (WWE Universal Championship)

Wrestlemania 34

WWE

Winner: And still the WWE Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar!

Highlights: Heyman did the honors as he announced his boy Brock. As soon as the match got underway, Roman ran right at Brock and tried to cut him down to size. But Brock swatted him away, stuffed him in the corner with repeated punches, and took him to “Suplex City.” This series of moves looked as if it finished Roman early, but it actually hyped him up and caused him to clean Brock’s clock with a Superman Punch. On the outside, Roman shoved his fist into Brock’s face after landing another Superman Punch. Once both men returned to the ring, Roman clotheslined Brock right over the top rope. Brock looked to be down and out, but he popped back up and began landing Belly to Belly Suplexes to Roman on the outside. Brock even catapulted Roman face first into one of the announce tables! Roman got treated like a rag doll for several minutes afterwards thanks to a trip to Suplex City.

Brock looked to put Roman through a table, but Roman escaped his grasp and flung him into the corner ring post. Once Roman got back to his feet, he connected with a vicious Spear on Brock that forced him to slide across an announce table. When the match got back into the ring, Roman dropped the champ with another Superman Punch and two Spears. But this still wasn’t enough to keep Brock down for the count. Roman let the crowd know he was ready to land another Spear, but Brock cracked him with a jumping knee strike. Brock then launched Roman into the air and planted him with an F5. Roman kicked out of the following pin attempt, which forced Brock to plant him with a second F5. Roman still held on for dear life, however. Brock looked for the finale he dreamed about after landing a third F5. But Roman still kicked out!

Brock pushed Roman to the outside and proceeded to F5 him right through an announce table. Brock then pulled Roman’s lifeless body back into the ring for another German Suplex and a followup F5. This caused Brock to take his gloves off and brutalize Roman with some extra stiff elbow shots. Roman then got busted wide open hard way. Brock tried landing another F5, but Roman slipped out his grasp and landed a Spear. He then went to land another one, but Brock caught him in midair and crushed his dreams of becoming champion with a final F5.
