The New York Mets are having an ideal MLB Opening Day. With an 11-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth, it’s looking like the Mets are going to start the season with a 1-0 record.
Among other notable things, like New York being able to tag Pittsburgh Pirates starter Paul Skenes for five runs in the first inning, Carson Benge hit his first career home run on Thursday afternoon. After scoring nine runs on no homers, Carson Benge and Francisco Alvarez went back-to-back off Justin Lawrence to give the Mets a six-run advantage.
Mets fans across the MLB landscape are starting to react to seeing Benge’s home run, which was struck well into the left-centerfield gap and over the wall.
