The Minnesota Vikings could be losing out on a wideout amid the uncertain future of Jordan Addison, who currently finds himself in trade rumors.

In an article published on Jan. 22, The Athletic’s Alec Lewis shared his predictions for a handful of Vikings players this offseason, one of them being wide receiver Jalen Nailor, who can test the open market in mid-March.

While a trade of Addison could open up the possibility of Nailor staying with the Vikings, that’s not the case right now. As a result, Lewis predicts that the Vikings wideout will be leaving for greener pastures in free agency.

“For years, the Vikings have communicated their confidence in Nailor,” Lewis wrote. “He validated the belief in 2025. Not only did he play in all 17 games after a broken hand affected him in training camp, but also he dropped only one pass. Nailor knows all of the positions in coach Kevin O’Connell’s complex offensive system.

“He is stout enough to stick his face in the fan as a run blocker. In the four years general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has been making draft picks, Nailor is his best late-round success story. Other teams see his value, and he’s expected to have a sizable market, especially among teams in the NFC. The Vikings didn’t broach the subject of an extension throughout the season.”

The Bills Reportedly Want the Vikings’ Jordan Addison

On Jan. 21, On SI’s 49ers beat reporter Grant Cohn reported that the Buffalo Bills, who need wide receiver help for QB Josh Allen, are among the teams competing with the San Francisco 49ers for Addison.

“According to a source, the 49ers intend to be quite aggressive this offseason in terms of trades,” Cohn said in a video posted on X. “They want to trade up in the draft, and they want to trade for a wide receiver. And the wide receiver they’re initially targeting in a trade is Jordan Addison of the Minnesota Vikings

“I don’t know if [the 49ers will] ultimately get him because other teams are probably going to want him. I’m hearing Buffalo is the team that also would like Jordan Addison. Remember, they traded with the Vikings a few years ago for Stefon Diggs. So there’s a history between those two teams. But keep an eye on the 49ers making a play for Jordan Addison.”

Minnesota Want to Keep Jalen Nailor

Moreover, Cohn notes that the Vikings want to hold onto Nailor, who will be a free agent in mid-March, opening the door for Minnesota to trade Addison. Last season, Nailor had 29 catches for 444 yards and scored four touchdowns in 17 games, per StatMuse.

“They like Jalen Nailor, who’s a free wide receiver or going to be a free agent wide receiver on their team,” Cohn added. “They’d like to keep him. And since they’re not going to pick up Jordan Addison’s fifth‑year option, they would be open to trading him.

“Now, he has been arrested three times, but most recently, the charges were dropped. So apparently, from what I heard, there have already been initial discussions between the two teams on a trade. I don’t know if the Niners have made an offer.”
