The San Francisco 49ers have very notably been hit hard with injuries in the early going of training camp.
In fact, they have been hit so hard with injuries that their joint practices with the Tennessee Titans may be in jeopardy, according to a few reports.
The biggest positional group that has been hit with injuries has been the wide receivers, which puts more pressure on QB Brock Purdy to make plays in practice.
However, Purdy has reportedly excelled without some of his top pass catchers, and it’s turning heads at 9ers camp.

De’Zhaun Stribling has returned to 49ers practice, but he’s been limited in some drills and 11-on-11 displays.
Injuries to the likes of Mike Evans and Ricky Pearsall have forced San Francisco to bring in names like Deebo Samuel and KhaDarel Hodge.
Despite missing several top receivers, Brock Purdy is still putting on a show.
49ers reporter David Lombardi wrote (via X.com):
“Brock Purdy has gone 24-of-28 over the past two practices while dropping multiple deep TDs in buckets… all while missing his top 5 receivers…”
With the waves of injuries to 49ers pass catchers, San Francisco may be relying on its franchise quarterback just a little bit more this season.
According to the injury report, the following players haven’t been able to be featured at Niners practice: George Kittle (Achilles), Christian Kirk (Cal strain), Mike Evans (Quad strain), Jacob Cowing (Hip flexor), and Kaelon Black (Adductor).
However, it is still early on in camp, and the hope is that all of those players will be ready for Week 1. If anything, it’s good news that Brock Purdy is turning heads WITHOUT his top wideouts.

Brock Purdy was limited to just nine games with the 49ers in 2025. He went 7-2 in that span, and led the 49ers to the NFL playoffs.
He was able to complete nearly 70% of his passes while passing for 2167 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
Purdy is entering his fifth season in the NFL and is expected to take another step forward in his development. San Francisco is a team with NFL playoff aspirations, and while the Niners have a very capable backup in Mac Jones, they will go as far as Purdy can take them.
