Treylon Burks : Not nearing return yet

Titans coach Brian Callahan said Monday that Burks' return from an ACL tear should occur closer to the regular season, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Reading between the lines, Burks is unlikely to be ready for the start of training camp and in danger of missing Week 1. He suffered an ACL tear Week 6 of 2024, causing an early end to what was shaping up as another disappointing season. The 2022 first-round pick failed to earn a top-three role under a new coaching staff and now finds himself rehabbing a major injury for the final year of his rookie contract. The only positive development for Burks' fantasy value is that Tennessee's lack of receiving weapons could afford him another opportunity to compete for playing time. Still, there are many better ways to use a late-round fantasy pick.

Jameson Williams : Should get fifth-year option

The Lions likely will exercise their fifth-year option on Williams this spring, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. The Lions have until May 1 to exercise an option that would guarantee Williams a salary around $15.49 million for 2026. That's well below market rate for a quality No. 2 receiver -- something Williams became in 2024 with a 58-1,001-7 receiving line (91 targets) in 15 regular-season games. While unlikely to average more than 6-7 targets per game in an offense loaded with other talented playmakers, Williams should have a similar role this upcoming season under new playcaller John Morton, who previously worked for the Lions in 2022 and then served as Denver's pass-game coordinator the past two years. Lions GM Brad Holmes said he'll likely pick up Williams' fifth-year option, but Holmes didn't mention a contract extension the way he did when discussing fellow 2022 first-round pick Aidan Hutchinson.

Brandon Aiyuk : Progressing with injury recovery

GM John Lynch relayed Monday that Aiyuk, who tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee in October, met with Dr. Neal ElAttrache last week and got "good reviews" in terms of the progress he's made in his recovery, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. That said, there is still no concrete timetable for Aiyuk's return to action. Either way, Lynch noted that despite recent trade speculation, he expects the 2020 first-rounder -- who the 49ers signed to a four-year, $120 million extension last August -- to remain with the team this coming season. Due a $22.85 million bonus Tuesday, Aiyuk recorded 25 catches (on 47 targets) for 374 yards in seven games prior to his injury, and, once he's fully healthy, he'll be in line to headline a San Francisco WR corps that no longer includes Deebo Samuel. For now, the top available options behind Aiyuk are Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson.

Anthony Richardson : Facing job battle with Jones

Colts coach Shane Steichen recently said Richardson (back) and Daniel Jones will split first-team reps this spring and into training camp, Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports. Taken fourth overall in the 2023 draft, Richardson has missed 17 of a possible 34 games because of injuries and was benched for another two for performance reasons, with lowlights of his career to date including a 47.7 percent completion rate in 2024. It at least sounds like he'll be healthy for the start of the offseason program, after missing the final two weeks of last season with a back injury. Jones has his own shortcomings and is highly unlikely to ever be anything more than a low-end starter or solid backup, but superior accuracy on short passes is one clear edge he has over Richardson, along with a better track record of availability (although that hasn't exactly been a strength for Jones, either).

Breece Hall : Needs to impress new coaches?

New Jets coach Aaron Glenn said Monday that Hall is one of three running backs that the team wants to "utilize as much as possible," Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. The other two presumably are 2024 fourth-round pick Braelon Allen and 2024 fifth-round pick Isaiah Davis, both of whom had some nice moments as rookies while spelling Hall off the bench during his disappointing season. It won't come as any surprise if the uber-talented Hall improves in 2025 and re-establishes himself as a workhorse back under a new coaching staff, but it's nonetheless interesting to see the contrast between Glenn's comment on Hall and what he said when reporters asked about WR Garrett Wilson. Glenn referred to Wilson as a "dynamic player" and said the Jets will try to get him the ball "as much as possible."

Durant (ankle) is expected to miss at least one week of action, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday. This is a tough blow for Phoenix, with Charania noting that the team is 1.5 games out of a Play-In spot with the toughest scheduling remaining. Based on this timetable, Durant will miss Phoenix's three-game road trip at a minimum, putting a potential return against Golden State on April 8 on the table. With Durant out, a number of players could be asked to step up including Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and also Bradley Beal (hamstring), if he can get the green light to return.

Edward Cabrera : Ready for rehab assignment

Cabrera (finger) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Cabrera developed a blister on his right middle finger during a March 13 Grapefruit League start that resulted in him opening the season on the injured list, but he doesn't look as though he'll be in store for an extended stay on the shelf. After coming out of a three-inning simulated game last Wednesday no worse for the wear, Cabrera is now ready to test himself in an uncontrolled environment. He'll be eligible to return from the IL on April 7, but the Marlins may want him to complete one more rehab start beyond Tuesday's before clearing him for his 2025 debut with the big club.

Weathers (forearm) is expected to begin a throwing progression later this week, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. Weathers opened the season on the 15-day injured list after suffering a left flexor strain late in spring training. The southpaw appears to have responded well to a brief shutdown period, but he'll likely face an extended ramp-up period as he looks to get stretched back out for a starting role. If all goes well during that process, Weathers could be ready to return from the IL by late April, in a best-case scenario.

Perez (elbow) is scheduled to face hitters Tuesday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. The activity represents a step forward in the recovery process for Perez, who had previously been limited to throwing bullpen sessions as he works his way back from his April 2024 Tommy John surgery. Perez will likely face hitters in a controlled setting for the next few weeks before the Marlins eventually map out a rehab assignment for the young right-hander. Steel is mired in a 14-game goal drought dating back to Feb 28 versus the Kings. During his slump, the 27-year-old forward chipped in just three assists to go with eight shots, nine hits and five blocks while averaging 12:54 of ice time. Bemstrom's placement on waivers may be simply a technical move that will allow him to be moved to the minors when the Penguins' season is over -- especially considering the Baby Pens will be making the Calder Cup Playoffs. Still, if Bemstrom does get shifted down to the minors, it could be to make way for another young prospect to come up from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Dan Vladar: Set to face Avalanche

Vladar was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, per Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now, indicating he will guard the road goal against the Avalanche on Monday. Vladar has won his last two outings, stopping 38 of 42 shots. He has a 10-11-6 record with two shutouts, a 2.90 GAA and an .893 save percentage through 28 appearances this season. Colorado sits sixth in the league with 3.34 goals per game in 2024-25.
