Brandon Eisert: Breaking News

Eisert will be the White Sox's opening pitcher in Tuesday's game against Atlanta, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. The left-handed Eisert will open things up for Chicago before turning it over to righty Erick Fedde, who will absorb the bulk of the innings. Eisert will go into action Tuesday having been unscored upon in 10 of 11 appearances since being recalled from Triple-A Charlotte in mid-May.

Eisert will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher for Saturday's game against the Phillies, Brooke Fletcher of Chicago Sports Network reports. The top half of the Philadelphia lineup often features three tough left-handed hitters in Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper and Brandon Marsh, so the White Sox will have the left-handed Eisert open the contest in an effort to avoid an early deficit. Once Eisert works the first inning or two, right-hander Sean Burke is expected to take over in bulk relief.

Eisert pitched 1.1 perfect innings as an opener Friday against the Tigers, striking out one. Eisert worked as the opener in this game and retired Sam Antonacci, Dillon Dingler, Jahmai Jones and Riley Greene before handing things over to Erick Fedde. Eisert has a 4.35 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in nine appearances (10.1 innings) for the White Sox this season but has been trending in the right direction, allowing just one run over his last eight appearances since returning to the big-league roster in mid-May.
