Doyle is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets. It's the third absence in the past four games for Doyle, who has a .219/.288/.288 slash line with one homer and six steals through 80 plate appearances this season. Brenton Doyle: Breaking News
Stolen base in return to lineup
Doyle went 1-for-3 with a run scored, a walk and a stolen base Friday against the Mets. Doyle was out of the lineup for each of Colorado's prior two games, though he returned to start in center field Friday. He played a key role in the team's fifth-inning rally, singling to center before coming around to score. Doyle later swiped his sixth base of the season, four of which have come in his last 10 games. Despite the strong showing Friday, Doyle is hitting only .219 with two RBI and 11 runs scored across 26 games to begin the campaign.
Another day off Thursday
Doyle is absent from the lineup for Thursday's tilt versus the Padres. It's the second straight day out of the lineup for Doyle, though he did get a plate appearance off the bench Wednesday (and struck out). Doyle has been in the Rockies' lineup for less than 70 percent of his team's games thus far, which is not a rate fantasy managers had in mind when they took the outfielder in drafts this spring. The 27-year-old hasn't exactly made a case to play more, having put together just a .206/.270/.279 batting line and 35.1 percent strikeout rate through 24 contests. Jake McCarthy will make a second consecutive start in center field for the Rockies in Thursday's matinee.
