Jose Siri: Everything you need to know

The Angels reassigned Siri to minor-league camp Thursday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Siri signed a minor-league contract with the Angels at the beginning of February after he slashed just .063/.167/.125 across 36 plate appearances for the Mets in 2025. In 36 plate appearances for the Angels in spring training, the outfielder had another low slash line of .194/.237/.250.

Siri agreed to a minor-league contract with the Angels on Sunday, which includes an invite to big-league spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The 30-year-old outfielder went 2-for-32 in 16 appearances for the Mets last year and spent most of the season on the injured list recovering from a fractured tibia. Siri clubbed 43 homers in 231 games for Tampa Bay across the 2023 and 2024 campaigns, but he batted just .203 during that stretch and has yet to illustrate that he can consistently hit MLB-level pitching.

Siri elected free agency Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Siri passed through waivers unclaimed after being DFA'd by the Mets last Wednesday, and he'll now enter the open market to begin the offseason. The 30-year-old missed most of the 2025 season with a fractured left tibia and went just 2-for-32 (.063) in the big leagues while healthy.
