Jose Siri: Breaking News

Siri went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Monday's loss to the Rockies. Siri cashed in on a bases-loaded opportunity in the third inning, turning on a Kyle Freeland cutter for a grand slam. The homer was the center fielder's second of the campaign, with his first coming Tuesday against the Tigers. Siri has impressed in a small sample size, hitting .304 with a .985 OPS across 24 plate appearances while seeing most of his opportunities in left field.

Siri hit a solo home run in his only at-bat during a 10-6 victory versus Detroit on Tuesday. Siri entered the contest as a defensive substitute in the eighth inning. He made the most of his lone plate appearance, belting a homer to left field to lead off the top of the ninth. Since joining the Angels' active roster May 16, Siri has played sporadically but has hit well, going 3-for-11 with two extra-base hits (a double and Tuesday's long ball).

The Angels selected Siri's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Siri has spent the entire season in the minors, slashing .288/.353/.504 with five homers, 27 RBI, 18 runs and four steals through 140 plate appearances. His improved performance at the plate will now culminate in his promotion back to the majors to work as the Angels' bench outfielder. Bryce Teodosio was optioned to Salt Lake in a corresponding move, and Ben Joyce (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day IL to free up a 40-man spot.
