Michael McGreevy: Breaking News

McGreevy took a no-decision Sunday against the Mariners, allowing one run on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out six. The right-hander put together one of his best starts on the young season, fanning a season-high six while matching a season high in innings. McGreevy has provided fairly consistent length for the Cardinals as well, firing at least five frames in all but one of his first six starts in 2026. He boasts a 2.97 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB across 33.1 innings so far, but a daunting task versus the Dodgers awaits McGreevy in his next scheduled outing.

McGreevy (1-2) took the loss Monday in Miami, yielding four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 frames. He struck out three. McGreevy was cruising early, retiring the first 10 batters of the game. Then, seven of the final 14 batters he faced reached base, with four of them scoring. McGreevy's velocity was up slightly across the board in this one, but the 91.4 mph he averaged on his four-seamer is still well below last year's 93 mph mark. He's managed a 3.29 ERA and 0.92 WHIP through his first five starts this season, but McGreevy's strikeout rate is down even lower than last year's at 14.3 percent. He's lined up to face the Mariners at home Sunday in his next outing.

McGreevy did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out two over five innings. McGreevy was tagged for solo homers in each of the first two innings -- first by Jose Ramirez and then by Daniel Schneemann -- but settled in well after the rocky start. He retired nine of the final 11 batters he faced to end the day with a solid overall line, although he generated just 21 combined called and swinging strikes on 87 pitches. Despite McGreevy's strong start to the season, allowing only six runs across 21.2 innings, his 5.68 xERA points to potential regression moving forward. The 25-year-old will face a tougher test in his next scheduled outing against Miami early next week.
