Michael McGreevy: Everything you need to know

McGreevy took a no-decision Sunday against the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out five. McGreevy has mostly done a fine job of keeping the ball in the yard in 2026, but he was tagged for multiple home runs Sunday for just the second time this year. On a much more positive takeaway, the 25-year-old right-hander pitched at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer for the sixth time in his last eight starts. McGreevy will bring a strong 2.99 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 49:17 K:BB over 72.1 frames into his next scheduled start in Minnesota.

McGreevy (3-5) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one batter over six innings in a loss to Texas on Monday. McGreevy began by tossing three scoreless innings before the Rangers scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth frames. Those were enough to hold up, as the Cardinals' offense managed just one run of support. As usual, McGreevy didn't miss many bats -- he had just six whiffs and one punchout -- but he nonetheless managed his seventh quality start of the campaign. Despite a paltry 6.0 K/9 and 3-5 record, the right-hander is having a solid season, posting a 2.98 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through 66.1 innings spanning 12 starts.

McGreevy (3-4) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks across four innings. He fanned six. McGreevy had a dominant four-start stretch between April 26 and May 14, posting a 0.75 ERA and allowing just two earned runs on 24 innings, but regression has hit him hard. Over his last two appearances, he's gone 0-2 with an 8.00 ERA and 2.33 WHIP across 9.0 frames. McGreevy isn't as bad as that 8.00 ERA indicates, but he was also not expected to sustain those levels of dominance he showed between late April and mid-May. McGreevy will aim to bounce back in his next start, which should be scheduled for next week at home against the Rangers.
