Osvaldo Bido: Breaking News

The White Sox claimed Bido off waivers from Atlanta on Saturday. Bido will join the White Sox's organization after he was designated by Atlanta for assignment Thursday. He gave up three earned runs in each of his two outings prior to being DFA'd, and on the season he has a 6.30 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 10 innings. To make room on the 40-man roster for Bido, the White Sox transferred Prelander Berroa (elbow) to the 60-day injured list.

Atlanta designated Bido for assignment Thursday. Bido was knocked around in his last two appearances, yielding a total of six runs across three innings. He bounced around via waivers over the winter and will now go through the waivers process again.

Bido earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Thursday by pitching the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out three batters. Atlanta carried a 12-1 lead into the seventh inning, and Bido was tasked with finishing off the contest without allowing any drama. He did just that, giving up a run in the ninth frame but overall keeping Arizona at arm's length. Bido was rewarded for his efforts with a three-inning save -- the second save of his MLB career. The right-hander is tabbed for work in middle and long relief this season, so additional save chances will likely be very scarce or non-existent for him.
