Tanner Murray: Breaking News

The White Sox transferred Murray to the 60-day injured list Monday. The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Randal Grichuk, who signed a one-year major-league deal with the White Sox on Monday. Murray suffered a left shoulder dislocation and fracture while making a diving catch in left field against the Nationals in late April. His recovery timeline was initially set at 4-to-6 months, which means he won't be available to return until at least late August.

The White Sox placed Murray on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left shoulder dislocation and fracture. Murray suffered the injury during Sunday's game against the Nationals when he landed awkwardly after making a diving catch in left field. There is a fracture in the dislocated shoulder that requires surgery, which White Sox manager Will Venable relayed will take about 4-to-6 months to recover from, per James Fegan of SoxMachine.com. That timeline means the earliest Murray would return is late August.

Murray went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 6-5 win over the Royals. The home run, hit in the second inning off Noah Cameron, was the first in Murray's MLB career. It also was just the second hit of any sort for the 26-year-old playing in his first handful of games at the big-league level. With Everson Pereira (ankle) still on the shelf, Murray should see some time in the lineup for the team's next couple of games.
