Travis d'Arnaud: Breaking News

D'Arnaud (foot) told reporters Saturday that he does not have a timetable for his return from the 10-day injured list, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. D'Arnaud landed on the 10-day injured list May 8 due to right foot plantar fasciitis. He's kept the weight off his foot by using a scooter and relayed that he'll have a better sense of his rehab timeline once he's able to put weight on his foot. Given the update, it's possible that d'Arnaud is not back with the big club until later in the summer. Sebastian Rivero will continue to operate as the Angels' backup catcher behind Logan O'Hoppe for as long as d'Arnaud is sidelined.

The Angels placed d'Arnaud on the 10-day injured list Friday with right foot plantar fasciitis. D'Arnaud had to leave Wednesday's game versus the White Sox with the injury, though it's unclear if it might have been bothering him previously. He joins Logan O'Hoppe (wrist) on the IL, leaving the Angels with Sebastian Rivero and Omar Martinez as their top two catchers.

Manager Kurt Suzuki said Wednesday that d'Arnaud is dealing with pain in his foot, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. D'Arnaud came out of Wednesday's game against the White Sox in the fifth inning after attempting to leg out an infield single. He reportedly had trouble putting weight on his foot after exiting, so the Angels will send him in for further testing. More will be known about the severity of his injury once the results come back, but Sebastian Rivero could be in line to make a start or two behind home plate once the Angels begin their weekend series in Toronto.
