The Dayton Flyers are one of the stories of the 2014 March Madness tournament. The Ohio college defeated Syracuse to set up a date with Stanford on March 27 in Memphis. Though more of the attention from social media has been lavished upon Dayton coach Archie Miller’s beautiful wife, Morgan. Rather than be a professional model or pinup like many WAGs, Morgan Miller seems pretty down to earth, enjoying Miller High Life and Maroon 5.
Here’s everything else you need to know about her:
1. She Was the Breakout Star of Dayton’s Win Over Syracuse
Morgan Miller is not to be confused with the wife of skier Bode Miller, who is also called Morgan. The TV cameras were glued to her demonstration of every possible human emotion during Dayton’s sensational win over Syracuse on March 22. Also notable was her wearing of a “Dayton High Life” t-shirt. Not to mention the fact that she’s been promoting the t-shirts on social media.
2. Her Father Predicted the Two Would Get Together
Archie Miller met Morgan Miller, then Cruse, through her father Steve Cruse. He went to check on N.C. State for his daughter. He had a chance meeting with Archie Miller who was playing basketball. According to Morgan, her father told her, “I think I met the guy you’re gonna date next year.” Soon after she enrolled at the school, a friend set her up on a blind date with “Arch.” Her dad’s response was, “See, I told you so.”
3. Morgan Was a College Track Star
She’s an athlete as well. Morgan was a track-and-field athlete at N.C. State. According to a Dayton Magazine article, “As an athlete herself, Morgan understood the demands of Archie’s schedule.” When the couple first moved to Dayton, Morgan appointed herself in charge of house hunting and finding a suitable school for their daughter.
4. They’ve Been Married For 11 Years
The couple were marred on August 30, 2003. They had their first child, Leah Grace, in 2004. The couple moved around a lot in their early years but enjoyed life in Ohio, first when “Arch” got a job at Ohio State. Morgan says of the time:
As we got married and started getting into the early years, I think we all understood that early on we were going to try to make some moves. I think that every place we’ve ever been, though, we felt like we’d be there for a while and ended up not being there for a while.
Although post-Ohio State, the couple would spend time in Tucson when “Arch” got a job as assistant coach at the University of Arizona in 2009. Ultimately though, the couple would wind up back in Ohio when Archie Miller was named head coach of the University of Dayton in 2011.
5. Will She Star Again For Dayton?
The Dayton Flyers are back in action on March 27 against Standford at 7:15 p.m. in Memphis. According to the NCAA website, 70% of users of the site think that Dayton have the upper hand. That wouldn’t be anything to do the coach’s wife, would it?
