Deidre Ball, the wife of former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, has reportedly filed for divorce from the former financier. Another report claims Ball was nine months pregnant when she field for divorce.
Multiple sources told the New York Post’s Page Six that Ball’s decision to file for divorce was inspired by Scaramucci’s “naked political ambition.” The couple have been married for three years, and started dating in 2011.
Another Page Six report claims that Ball was nine months pregnant when she field for divorce in Nassau County Supreme Court on July 6.
Their baby, named James, was born on July 24, the same day President Donald Trump spoke at the Boy Scouts Jamboree in West Virginia. Scaramucci didn’t see his son until July 29, the source told Page Six. According to the report, the baby was also born two weeks before he was due.
“She’s mad. They aren’t really speaking right now,” the source told Page Six of Diedre on July 29. “The [pain] runs deep. [Anthony] tells her she’s not that smart, that he’s out of her league.”
“Deidre has left him and has filed for divorce,” a source told the Post on July 28. “She liked the nice Wall Street life and their home on Long Island, not the insane world of D.C. She is tired of his naked ambition, which is so enormous that it left her at her wits’ end. She has left him even though they have two children together.”
Scaramucci responded to the report with a pair of tweets. In one, he said there would be no further comment on the situation.
The source told the Post that Scaramucci is “hell-bent” on reclaiming a strong position in the White House after he failed to get a job during the first wave of hires in January, before President Donald Trump was inaugurated. White House Chief of Staff Reice Preibus blocked Scaramucci’s appointment to a major role at the time, and Scaramucci was only named Communications Director earlier this month. Aside from a contributor role on Fox News, Scaracmucci has no communications experience.
The Daily Mail points out that Scaramucci was seen without his wedding ring at the White House earlier Thursday.
The 38-year-old Deidre “is not a fan of Trump, and she hasn’t exactly been on board and supportive of Anthony and his push to get back into the White House,” the Post’s source said. The Post noted that Ball was absent from Scaramucci’s annual SALT conference in May.
The Post’s report came after a whirlwind Thursday for Scaramucci, which came to a head when New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza published the transcript of a profanity-laced interview Scaramucci gave Lizza. Scaramucci later admitted that he has used “colorful language” and vowed to limit it. “The Mooch” also withdrew from Politicon, a conference held in Pasadena, California. Scaramucci was supposed to be interviewed by former MSNBC host Toure on Saturday afternoon.
Ball and Scaramucci are also parents to Nicholas, who was born in early 2014, before they married in July 2014. Scaramucci was previously married to Lisa Scaramucci for 23 years. Ball was married to Anthony Portelli from 2007 to 2011. Scaramucci and his first wife separated in 2011, but their divorce wasn’t finalized until 2014.
“Anthony is focusing on his children, his work for the president and the American people. There is nothing more important to him,” a friend told the Post. “I don’t know who Deidre thought she was marrying but anyone who knows Anthony knows he’s an ambitious man.”
The New York Times reports that Ball first went to her lawyer about a divorce in late June.
Scaramucci’s short tenure as White House Communications Director came to an end 10 days after it started. On July 31, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that Scaramucci was leaving at the behest of new Chief of Staff John Kelly.
