Experience
Maggie MacKenzie is a Boston-based writer and editor who has spent more than a decade covering sports, with a deep focus on NASCAR. She worked for NASCAR.com for several years, where she reported, wrote, and edited coverage across the sport: from race-weekend news and analysis to larger stories shaping the series.
Her time at NASCAR.com took her on the road to races and industry events, working in a fast-moving newsroom where accuracy, speed, and context mattered. She covered Cup Series race weekends, tracked storylines throughout the season, and collaborated closely with editors, reporters, and production teams to deliver timely coverage fans actually wanted to read.
Before and after her NASCAR tenure, Maggie has held editorial roles across sports media, including as a copy editor and writer at Sports Business Journal, where she worked on coverage of the business side of professional sports. That experience sharpened her eye for detail and gave her a broader view of how the sport operates beyond the track.
She has been writing and editing professionally for more than ten years and brings a reporter’s mindset, strong news judgment, and a deep understanding of NASCAR to her work with Heavy Sports.
Education
Maggie earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Fairfield University and an MBA from Babson College.
