Dane Myers: Everything you need to know

Myers went 1-for-1 with an RBI and was hit by a pitch in Saturday's 5-4 win over Minnesota. Myers delivered the go-ahead and game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning after entering the contest as a pinch hitter. It was the second time he's delivered a game-deciding run off the bench. Myers has mainly served as a pinch hitter or late-game defensive replacement for the Reds. He's 7-for-26 (.269) with a stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored over 19 games played (four starts).

Myers went 1-for-1 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Red Sox. Myers played the hero with a walk-off RBI-single in the bottom of the 11th inning. He entered the game in the ninth inning as a defensive substitution to protect a 5-4 lead but was needed for extras when Emilio Pagan blew the save. Myers has appeared in both games thus far, having served as a pinch hitter for Will Benson against a left-hander late in the Opening Day loss.

Myers (illness) will serve as the Reds' designated hitter and No. 6 batter in Monday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks. Myers is back in action for the first time since Thursday after he was scratched from the lineup ahead of his previously scheduled start Friday against the Giants due to an illness. The 30-year-old is good to go after a few days off, so the brief absence shouldn't affect his chances of breaking camp with the Reds. If he's part of the Opening Day roster, Myers is likely to fill the short side of a platoon in the outfield or at DH.
