Patrick Wisdom: Breaking News

Wisdom went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Mets. Wisdom has seen sporadic playing time since he recovered from an oblique injury that sidelined him for more than a month. The homer Tuesday was his first long ball and third hit over seven contests this year. Wisdom is batting .167 with four RBI, two runs scored, one double and no stolen bases over 19 plate appearances. He's unlikely to carve out an everyday role in the long run, but he should be able to pick up some extra time while Josh Naylor (back spasms) gets back to full health.

The Mariners activated Wisdom (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday. Wisdom was shelved for the last month of action with a left oblique strain but has been deemed ready to roll after playing eight rehab contests with Triple-A Tacoma. The 34-year-old is likely to serve primarily in a reserve role for Seattle.

The Mariners placed Wisdom on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a left oblique strain, retroactive to Wednesday. Wisdom may have picked up the injury during his last outing Tuesday against the Padres, when he struck out in his lone plate appearance. Wisdom is eligible to be activated from the IL in late April, though oblique injuries tend to take more time to recover from. Rob Refsnyder (personal) was activated from the Mariners' paternity list in a corresponding move.
