Trevis Gipson: Everything you need to know

Gipson and the Panthers agreed to terms on a contract Monday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Gipson signed with the Panthers in late October after being cut by the 49ers. He appeared in nine regular-season games for Carolina while playing on both defense and special teams, finishing with 12 tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks. Gipson will have an opportunity to earn an expanded role on defense for the 2026 season, though he'll likely see most of his snaps on special teams.

The Panthers signed Gipson off the 49ers practice squad Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Gipson is headed to Carolina after logging two tackles (one solo) across four outings with San Francisco earlier this season. The 28-year-old should provide the Panthers with extra depth at linebacker, as Patrick Jones (back) is out for the remainder of the campaign.

Gipson (ankle) tried out with the Browns on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Gipson is healthy again after having suffered an ankle injury last December that ended up landing him on Seattle's injured reserve. He appeared in just five regular-season games during the 2024 campaign but failed to record any stats on defense and will now look to catch on with another team.
