The first pitch of Friday night’s game between the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves at Yankee Stadium has been delayed due to inclement weather, the Yankees announced. The game was originally scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. EDT.

The New York Yankees wrote on X: “Please be advised we do not intend to start tonight’s game on time. Information will be provided as it is received.”

Meteorologist Kevin Roth wrote on X (7:51 p.m. EDT): “Yankees have gone from heavy downpours, to a steady moderate rain, to light rain (now), to eventually some drizzle and sprinkles. If they don’t play in the drizzle and sprinkles they might not be playing at all. Still not sure what exactly they’ll choose.”

Roth wrote on X (8:01 p.m. EDT): “Steady light rain is almost done in NY. Then it’s just the spotty sprinkles. Playable if they want it imo. We’ll see…”

New York Yankees Starting Pitcher

Max Fried is scheduled to make his first career start against his former team tonight.

The 32-year-old left-hander is 4-3 with a 3.12 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 68 strikeouts in 75 innings across 13 starts this year. He had been on the IL for a large chunk of the season due to a left elbow bone bruise.

Atlanta Braves Starting Pitcher

Tyler Mahle is scheduled to make his first career start as an Atlanta Brave. The Braves acquired Mahle from the San Francisco Giants at the trade deadline.

The 31-year-old right-hander is 3-9 with a 5.13 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 94 2/3 innings across 18 starts this year.
