President Trump: “A lot of people say, ‘Oh, Trump was only kidding with the wall.’ I wasn’t kidding. I don’t kid.”
During a speech to the National Sheriffs’ Association on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said that his border wall is already being designed.
In Trump’s address, he focused on issues related to law enforcement and border security, talking about the legal issues surrounding his recent travel ban and then discussing his proposed wall along the southern border of the United States.
“The wall is getting designed right now,” Trump said. “A lot of people say, ‘oh, oh, Trump was only kidding with the wall.’ I wasn’t kidding. I don’t kid.”
Trump went on to say that the wall will be a “great wall” and it will be a “big help.” He also said that Israel is proof that a border wall works.
“Just ask Israel about walls,” Trump said. “Do walls work? Just ask Israel, they work, if it’s properly done.”
Trump is referring to a wall Israel constructed along its border with Egypt a few years ago. The last time Trump made this comparison, Israel Prime Minister tweeted, “President Trump is right. I built a wall along Israel’s southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea.”
