Blake Perkins: Breaking News

The Brewers optioned Perkins to Triple-A Nashville on Monday. Perkins will head to Triple-A after the Brewers no longer had room for him in their crowded outfield following Jackson Chourio's (hand) reinstatement from the injured list. The 29-year-old had seen limited action of late, starting in just four of Milwaukee's last 19 games while slashing .059/.158/.118 during that stretch. Perkins should get the chance to play on an everyday basis with Nashville.

Perkins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays. Perkins will hit the bench Wednesday for the third straight game, with each of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Brandon Lockridge appears to have inched ahead of Perkins as the Brewers' preferred third member of the outfield alongside Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick while Milwaukee remains without Jackson Chourio (hand).

Perkins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. Perkins will cede his spot in the Milwaukee outfield to Brandon Lockridge, who will cover left and bat seventh in the series finale. The switch-hitting Perkins had started in six of the Brewers' previous seven games and should have a fairly clear path to steady playing time versus both lefties and righties until Milwaukee gets at least one of Andrew Vaughn (hand) or Jackson Chourio (hand) back from the injured list.
