Brady Singer: Everything you need to know

Singer (2-6) took the loss against the Cardinals on Friday, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts over four innings. Singer allowed runs in three different frames and struggled with his command, throwing just 49 of 89 pitches for strikes. While only one of the three runs he allowed Friday was earned, the 29-year-old has now surrendered at least three runs in six straight starts, a stretch in which he's gone 0-5 while yielding 12 home runs. He'll carry a disappointing 5.89 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB across 55 innings this season into a road matchup against the Padres next week.

Singer (2-5) took the loss against Atlanta on Saturday, throwing five innings and allowing three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two batters. Singer battled both his control and command throughout the outing -- in addition to walking four batters, he allowed a pair of homers. The right-hander threw only 48 of 94 pitches for strikes and finished with just two punchouts. The long ball has been a big issue for Singer of late, as he's now given up 13 home runs over his past 27.1 innings. The veteran hurler has an ugly 2.8 HR/9 this season, which is more than double his previous career-high rate. Those troubles have led to a 6.18 ERA in what is shaping up to be Singer's worst season as a pro.

Singer and the Reds won't face the Cardinals on Sunday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Cincinnati. The two teams will make up the game as part of a split doubleheader Aug. 17. As a result of the postponement, the Reds plan to skip Singer's turn through the rotation, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. Singer now lines up to make his next start during the Reds' home series versus Atlanta next weekend.
