Grant Holman: Everything you need to know

The Tigers claimed Holman off waivers from the Dodgers on Saturday. It's the third time this season that Holman has been cleared off waivers, and he has been optioned to the FCL after being picked up by Detroit, though he'll likely end up with Triple-A Toledo. To make room on the 40-man roster for Holman, the Tigers transferred Trey Sweeney (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list. The Dodgers claimed Holman off waivers from the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Holman camped with the Diamondbacks in spring training after being designated by the Athletics for assignment in early February, but he was subsequently DFA'd by Arizona after failing to make the team's Opening Day roster. He was reassigned to the minors by the Dodgers after being claimed off waivers and will likely report to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Holman appeared in 22 regular-season games (two starts) for the Athletics in 2025, finishing with a 5.09 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, three holds and a 17:9 K:BB across 23 innings.

The Diamondbacks designated Holman for assignment Wednesday. Holman was pushed off the 40-man roster with Arizona needing to clear three spots for infielder Ildemaro Vargas and right-handers Jonathan Loaisiga and Joe Ross, all of whom will be included on the Opening Day squad. Arizona previously scooped up the 25-year-old Holman off waivers from the Athletics in February after he turned in a 5.09 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB over 23 big-league innings last season.
