Jeffrey Caglianone: Breaking News

Caglianone is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians. After starting each of the Royals' first five games of May and going a collective 4-for-17 with two home runs, two walks, four RBI and three runs, Caglianone will receive a night off Wednesday. Starling Marte will check in for Caglianone in right field and will bat sixth.

Caglianone went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-6 win over the Mariners. Caglianone has homered three times over his last nine games, accounting for half of his hits in that span and all of his homers on the year. The outfielder continues to see a strong-side platoon role in right field. He's batting .253 with a .762 OPS, five RBI, 12 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 102 plate appearances this season.

Caglianone is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics. With lefty Jeffrey Springs on the hill for the Athletics, Caglianone will take a seat. Starling Marte is starting in right field and batting sixth. Caglianone is slashing .217/.250/.435 with one homer, two RBI and a 0:10 BB:K across 24 plate appearances against left-handed pitching this season. He hasn't been much better against right-handers.
