Tonight’s Mega Millions drawing will happen at 11:00 pm Eastern. The Mega Millions winning numbers for March 11 are:
71 – 14 – 54 – 18 – 48 – and a Mega Ball of 13
Mega Millions is a nationwide lottery played similar to the Powerball, but with slightly lower jackpots. Tonight’s Mega Millions is worth $15 million, or $9 million if you take the lump cash sum (before taxes.) If you want to know which Mega Millions numbers are most commonly picked, please see this story.
You may be wondering why the Mega Millions jackpot is so low this weekend, all the way down to $15 million, when just a few days ago the jackpot was at $157 million. That’s because someone won the big jackpot on Tuesday. The big winner was from Washington state, sold at a retailer in Seattle. The name of the winner hasn’t been released yet.
The chances of winning the Mega Millions is about 1 in 258 million, similar to the chances of winning the Powerball jackpot. Each time someone doesn’t win the jackpot, the jackpot grows for the next drawing. No one won last week’s drawing, so the jackpot has grown to $157 million.
How do you know if you won the Mega Millions? You’ll need to match five white balls in any order along with the Mega Ball. If you do win, make sure you know the deadline for claiming your prize. One Powerball winner still hasn’t claimed their prize, but the deadline is still far away. (Find out more about the Powerball deadlines here.)
