Chase did not participate in Monday's practice, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, Chase was present for the beginning of the session, though not in uniform. The Bengals won't have to release an official practice/injury report before Wednesday, but with the team's season opener quickly approaching, the wideout's status will need to be monitored closely ahead of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff against the Patriots. For his part, coach Zac Taylor indicated that the team will "just take it day by day" in terms of the star wideout's Week 1 availability, Adam Schefter of ESPN relays.
The Bengals reverted Robinson (undisclosed) to IR on Wednesday, per the NFL's transaction log. Robinson was waived/injured by Cincinnati on Tuesday due to an undisclosed issue. He's since cleared waivers, so he'll spend the entire 2024 season on IR unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.
The Bengals placed Jackson (knee) on the reserve/injured list Thursday. Jackson has been held out of practice since spraining his right knee in early August. He'll now be held out for the first four regular-season games, and the rookie third-round pick is eligible to return for Week 5 against Baltimore on Oct. 6.
The Bengals re-signed Williams on Thursday. Williams has returned to the Bengals' 53-man roster after he was released Wednesday to make room for K.J. Henry, whom Cincinnati picked up off waivers. The sixth-year running back remains comfortably behind Chase Brown and Zack Moss on the Bengals' depth chart, so he's expected to be used primarily as a special-teamer in 2024.
Coach Zac Taylor said "we'll see" when asked Thursday about Chase's practice availability, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Taylor said things will "probably be very similar to yesterday," per Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, referring to Chase observing Wednesday's practice in street clothes. The head coach also said Wednesday that he "spoke too quickly" when stating that he expected Chase to be available Week 1 versus New England. Counting the fifth-year option for 2025, the 2021 first-round pick has two years remaining on his rookie deal, but the lack of a long-term contract seems to have created a significant rift between Chase and the Bengals. Both sides have roughly a week and a half to mend that gap before taking on the Patriots at home on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The Bengals placed Robbins (upper leg) on the reserve/injured list with a designation to return Tuesday. Robbins injured his leg during practice Aug. 13, which forced him to sit out for the final two preseason games. He'll be held out for the first four games of the regular season, and he won't be eligible to return until Week 5 against the Ravens. While Robbins is sidelined, Ryan Rehkow is slated to serve as the Bengals' starting punter.
Murphy (knee) was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return by the Bengals on Tuesday. Murphy sprained his knee during the Bengals' joint practice with the Colts on Thursday. He'll miss the first four games of the regular-season, and he is eligible to return for Week 5 against Baltimore.
