Soto went 1-for-4 with a single, a walk and stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Angels. After swiping a career-high 38 bases in 2025, Soto registered his first steal of the 2026 campaign in the 10th inning. The 27-year-old has been productive since returning from injury April 22, hitting safely in eight of 10 games with four extra-base hits, three RBI and five runs scored while reaching base at least once in each contest during that stretch. For the year, he's slashing .338/.442/.538 with three homers, eight RBI, eight runs scored and a steal across just 77 plate appearances.

Juan Soto: Breaking News
Could return to outfield soon
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Thursday that Soto (forearm) could return to playing the outfield during this weekend's series versus the Angels, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports. Soto has been limited to designated-hitter duty while battling left forearm tightness, but he's progressed to the point that a return to playing defense is imminent. A return to left field for Soto will allow for more flexibility in the Mets' DH slot and give the club more outfield options while Luis Robert (back) is on the shelf.
Goes yard again Wednesday
Soto went 3-for-5 with a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Nationals. Not much is going right these days for the Mets, but at least Soto is finding his groove at the plate. The 27-year-old superstar has gone yard in back-to-back games, and in seven contests since returning from a calf strain he's batting .292 (7-for-24) with a 6:2 BB:K. Forearm soreness continues to limit him to DH, however, something that will put extra strain on the roster with Luis Robert (back) headed for the IL.
