Anthony Misiewicz: Breaking News

Denied Opening Day roster spot

The Reds reassigned Misiewicz to minor-league camp Monday. Cincinnati already has two other left-handers on the 40-man roster who were projected to be included in the Opening Day bullpen (Brock Burke and Sam Moll), so Misiewicz's dismissal from big-league camp doesn't come as a major surprise. The 31-year-old southpaw was forced to settle for a minor-league deal with the Reds this offseason after he was roughed up for five earned runs on five hits and four walks over 4.2 innings in just five appearances in the majors with Minnesota in 2025.

Gets NRI pact from Reds

The Reds signed Misiewicz to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training. Misiewicz made five appearances for the Twins this past season, yielding five runs with a 5:4 K:BB over 4.2 frames. The bulk of his year was spent at Triple-A St. Paul, where he held a 3.82 ERA and 30:11 K:BB across 33 innings. Misiewicz will compete for a bullpen job in Cincinnati, but the southpaw is likely ticketed for the Triple-A Louisville bullpen.

Opts for free agency

Misiewicz cleared waivers Thursday and elected free agency, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. Misiewicz spent most of his time at Triple-A St. Paul in 2025, where he ended the season with a 3.82 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 33 innings. The left-hander also made five appearances for the Twins but surrendered five earned runs in just 4.2 innings, so he'll most likely have to settle for another minor-league pact in free agency.
