Shenton cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday. Shenton has spent the entire 2025 campaign at Triple-A while residing on the 40-man roster up until being DFA'd Tuesday. The 27-year-old will remain with Tacoma after clearing waivers. He's slashing .207/.284/.413 in 169 plate appearances at Triple-A.
The Mariners designated Shenton for assignment Tuesday. Shenton has been at Triple-A all season, slashing .207/.284/.413 with eight homers, 26 RBI and 23 runs scored across 169 plate appearances. He'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster for Casey Lawrence, who was selected to the active roster Tuesday.
The Mariners optioned Shenton to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday. In his first spring with the Mariners after being traded from Tampa Bay during the offseason, Shenton went 9-for-34 with two RBI, four runs scored and 13 strikeouts. He'll now head to Triple-A to begin the 2025 campaign but could soon work his way back to Seattle, as he owns a .932 OPS across his Triple-A career.
