Emmanuel Ramirez: Everything you need to know

Ramirez signed a one-year contract with the Seibu Lions of Nippon Professional Baseball on Friday. Ramirez was able to make his major-league debut with the Marlins last season, though he only managed a 6.97 ERA over 20.2 innings. His ERA improved to 4.20 across 45 minor-league frames, but the 30-year-old reliever will now attempt to hone his craft in Japan.

The Blue Jays released Ramirez on Friday. Ramirez was DFA'd by Toronto on Monday and will now look to latch on with another team in free agency -- likely on a minor-league deal. The 30-year-old righty surrendered 16 earned runs in just 20.2 innings with the Marlins in 2024.

Ramirez was designated for assignment by Toronto on Monday. Ramirez was scooped up off waivers by the Blue Jays on Sept. 5 and was sent to Triple-A Buffalo to finish out the year. He'll head right back to waivers after his new club booted him from the 40-man roster Monday.
