The Royals signed Cuas to a minor-league contract Friday. Cuas spent all of the 2025 season in the minors after collecting a 4.37 ERA and 122:69 K:BB over 119.1 frames at the major-league level from 2022-2024. The first one-and-a-half of those seasons was spent with the Royals. Cuas should be ticketed for Triple-A Omaha to begin the 2026 campaign.
Atlanta released Cuas on Monday. Cuas made 13 relief appearances in the majors in 2024 between stops with the Cubs and Blue Jays, but he's pitched exclusively in the minors in 2025 as a member of the Philadelphia and Atlanta organizations. After being cut loose by Philadelphia in May, Cuas quickly caught on with Atlanta and reported to Double-A Columbus, where he had logged a 3.22 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 23:18 K:BB in 22.1 innings over 18 relief appearances.
Cuas signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Sunday. Cuas was let go by the Phillies' organization in early May after spending the first month of the year with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The relief pitcher allowed eight runs on eight hits and five walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings in seven appearances before being let go. Cuas will now look to get back on track with Triple-A Gwinnett.
