Logan Allen: Everything you need to know

The Guardians optioned Allen to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. Allen saved the Guardians' bullpen by recording seven strikeouts and allowing just two unearned runs allowed over four innings Monday versus the Nationals. He threw 83 pitches in the appearance, so Allen is being replaced by a fresh bullpen arm in Will Dion.

Allen allowed two unearned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out seven over four relief innings in Monday's 10-2 loss to Washington. Allen, a starter in the minors, was called up Sunday and needed to bail out the bullpen a day later when starter Tanner Bibee was done after three innings. The Guardians are in the middle of a stretch where they are playing 13 consecutive days, which can be taxing on a 'pen. Given that Allen burned 61 pitches Monday, he's unlikely to be available for several days. As such, his locker was cleaned out post-game, indicating the Guardians will make a roster move Tuesday, per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com.

The Guardians recalled Allen from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday. Allen has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he's started in eight games and has a 2-1 record with a 5.45 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 43:19 K:BB across 38 innings. Although he's been a starter his entire career, the Guardians don't have an obvious opening in the rotation, so Allen will most likely be ticketed for a multi-inning role out of the bullpen. The Guardians designated right-hander Peyton Pallette for assignment in a corresponding move.
