Effross (oblique) was activated from the 7-day injured list Wednesday. Effross has pitched in two games since his return from the injured list. He's tossed 1.2 scoreless frames while allowing three hits and striking out two for Triple-A Toledo.
Effross (oblique) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. Effross suffered a left oblique strain in early March and is finally ready to throw off the mound again. The sidearming reliever has struggled from a health and results perspective in recent years but will give the Tigers some experienced bullpen depth at Triple-A Toledo once he's healthy.
The Tigers reassigned Effross (oblique) to minor-league camp Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. Effross made three Grapefruit League appearances before his bid for a spot in the Tigers' Opening Day bullpen effectively ended after he was shut down just over a week ago after suffering a left oblique strain. If he's not cleared to face hitters by the time minor-league camp ends this weekend, Effross could begin the season on Triple-A Toledo's injured list.
