Emmanuel Jesus Rangel: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Emmanuel Rangel has been charged with the murder of America’s Next Top Model contestant Mirjana Puhar, her boyfriend, Jonathan Cosme Alvarado and his roommate, Jusmar Gonzaga-Garcia. The shootings happened in Charlotte, North Carolina, on February 24.

Here’s what you need to know:


1. Cops Say All 3 Knew Rangel

The Charlotte Observer reports that Rangel, 19, was arrested “without incident” on the morning of February 25 by members of Charlotte’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team. The attack happened in the northeast section of Charlotte. Police were called to a home along Norris Avenue at around 5 p.m. Inside, they found Puhar, her boyfriend, Alvarado, and Jusmar Gonzaga-Garcia, all dead of gun shot wounds. Cops say all three knew Rangel.


2. Rangel Is Also Being Charged With Another Related Murder

He’s also being charged with a murder in Matthews, North Carolina, that occurred on February 22 at a hotel. WCNC reports that the victim in that shooting is named Rosool Jaleel Harrell. Cops in Matthews say that Rangel has been charged along with a man named Edward Sanchez, who is also charged with murder and Emily Isaacs, who is charged with accessory after the fact. Both of those suspects were arrested in Harris County, Texas.


3. Police Say the Killings Were Drug Related

Charlotte police have said that they believe that all of the killings are drug related. The cops added that the victims and suspect in the February 24 shooing all knew each other. Lt. Alex Watson of the Charlotte police told WSOC-TV “I can tell you this is not a random act of violence.”


4. Mirjana Puhar Said in August 2014 That She Didn’t Want People ‘Dabbling in Her Personal Life’

Mirjana Puhar was a native of Serbia in Eastern Europe. In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, Puhar said that she moved to the U.S. with her family when she was 5. They first lived in New York City before moving down to North Carolina in 2004. In that Q&A session, Puhar stressed that she still had secrets, saying:

I don’t want people dabbling in my personal life, and I’m pretty sure they’re gonna do that after seeing the show. Once you watch the show, and you see what they get into, and what I speak about … then I’m pretty sure they’re gonna try to get into (my past).


5. Alvarado & Puhar Hadn’t Been Dating for Very Long

Jonathan Alvarado is reported by TMZ to have been Puhar’s boyfriend. The couple had only been dating for a short while. On his Facebook page, Alvarado says that’s single. It also says that he’s a native of Puerto Rico and that he lived in Colombia.

In an interview with the Charlotte Observer from August 2014, Puhar said she didn’t have a boyfriend. On February 21, one of the victims in the shooting, Jusmar Gonzaga, posted a picture to Facebook of hundreds of $20 bills with the word “Lifestyle” written across it. On his page, Gonzaga writes that he’s a native of Charlotte.
