1. Chino Hills Is a Suburb of Los Angeles, Located in San Bernardino County

Chino Hills is actually a suburb of Los Angeles. It’s located in the southwest corner of San Bernardino County. The city has a population of 74,799 as of 2010. Because of how close the city is to LA, many people are already joking that the winner might be a celebrity who didn’t really need the money. The name of the winner has not yet been released.


2. It Has the 6th Highest Income in the United States

Chino Hills is a beautiful city known for its high income and great worldwide reputation. It was ranked the 6th highest income out of cities with a population of 65,000 to 250,000 as of 2007. Money magazine ranked it the 34th best place to live in 2012. And in 2008, the FBI ranked it as the 13th safest city in the United States.

In addition to all this, Chino Hills was ranked 8th on a list of best places to live in the west with a population under 100,000 by Money Magazine.


3. An Earthquake Happened in California Around the Same Time of the Announcement

Chino Hills, like many cities in California, is earthquake prone. In 2008, a 5.4 magnitude quake happened in the city, but there were no fatalities. Around the same time that the Powerball announcement was made, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Johannesburg area. Although that is north of Chino Hills, many people online joked that the earthquake was from people celebrating.
