EgyptAir Flight MS804 has gone missing, the airline says. According to EgyptAir, the plane over the Mediterranean Sea when it disappeared from radar.

EgyptAir says Flight MS804 lost contact with radar above the Mediterranean Sea at about 175 miles, or 280km, from the Egyptian seacoast.

The plane, an Airbus A320 traveling from Paris to Cairo, had 56 passengers and 10 crew onboard. The passengers include 53 adults, two infants and one child. The crew includes two cockpit crew, five cabin crew and three security guards.

The plane was at an elevation of about 37,000 feet. It went missing at about 2:30 a.m. local time. The plane was set to arrive in Cairo at 3:15 a.m.

Egyptian authorities have launched search and rescue efforts, the airline says.
